Marr Your Daughter, Marry Our Daughter

This marryourdaughter site that raised hackles last month was utterly brilliant. If you think failure to preserve English as the official language of the United States has led to increasing social divisiveness -- even as it is simultaneously ascendant throughout the entire rest of the developed world -- just wait as more and more cultures who view arranged marriages as an issue of Religious Freedom begin to assert their subjectively defined rights -- and by current legal convention, the will be in the right! Think it isn't already happening? Then you haven't visited places like Milpitas, California yet, where some of the worst of the old India seems to be finding strong roots in the new America. I've seen houses partitioned into underground railroad shacks; housing more than a dozen workers in 6 foot by 8 foot "bedrooms" that rent for $600 to $800 per month. I've seen self-important Indian "executives" treat American female Executive Administrators like sub-caste servants, shouting "Where's my coffeee!!!?" while lounging ten feet away from the kitchen and while she was helping the team to scramble out a proposal in time. This is first-hand experience for me friends, not hearsay.

But I digress, the demise of healthy enculturation in the old [melting pot | salad bowl | soup bucket] is not the topic here. It's the word play that is such great fun. When you run marryourdaughter.com all together as a single word, it also forms Marr Your Daughter (MARR is Minimal Acceptable Rate of Return, in finance; also a homophone for mar, to damage or ruin). Brilliant!

This looks like one more practical example of how religion poisons just about everything. The very laws on the books which this website seeks to impugn, are directly drawn from the author's own judeo-christian traditions; yet, contemporary practitioners all faiths seem to be quite adept at criticizing the effects of their own belief systems as they become aware of the glaring absurdities, while simultaneously clinging to the ones they just happened to have not yet personally debunked for themselves. What is amazing to me is the degree to which most religiously minded people ... embarrassingly, including my former self ... seem to be able to hold on to these conflicting data and yet continue to espouse an unremitting faith.

The house of religion is constructed of conjecture (2x4's), faith (nails), and dogma (concrete). Remove any one of the ingredients and the whole thing topples into the pile of compost, revealing its true nature and purpose; it was fertilizer to get humanity through a particular phase of development. We were meant to outgrow it, children. So let's move on, shall we?
